A VERY FINE PAIR OF FLIGHT BARR & BARR WORCESTER ARMORIAL DESSERT PLATES, bearing the arms of the Gresley Family, with the heraldry for Sir Roger Gresley 8th Baronet and Sophia Catharine, Drakelow Hall, Derbyshire. 1817-1830

Each with a scalloped gadrooned border, a wide grisaille border of scallop shells cornucopia and anthemion reserved on a pink ground around a central  panel with a most superb full colour armorial and motto: Meliore Fide Quam Fortuna, with better fidelity than Fortune.

Sir Roger Gresley was an English author and politician. Hesucceeded to the baronetcy in 1808 on the death of his father and inherited the family estate of Drakelowe Hall, Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire. He married Lady Sophia Catherine Coventry, daughter of the 7th Earl of Coventry, on 2nd June 1821.
